A179 dikişsiz çelik boru, petrol, kimya, tıp, gıda, hafif sanayi, makine, alet gibi sektörlerde yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır, endüstriyel boru hattı ve mekanik yapı parçaları vb.
ASTM A179, boru şeklindeki ısı değişimi, kondansatörler ve benzer ısı transfer aparatları için minimum duvar kalınlığını, dikişsiz soğuk çekilmiş düşük karbonlu çelik boruları kapsar.Borular dikişsiz işlemle yapılacak ve soğuk çekilmiş olacaktır.Çelik malzemelerin gerekli karbon, manganez, fosfor ve kükürt kimyasal bileşimlerine uygun olacağı ısı ve ürün analizi yapılacaktır.Çelik malzemeler ayrıca sertlik testi, düzleştirme testi, ağız açma testi, flanş testi ve hidrostatik teste tabi tutulacaktır.
